Addicted to Car and Driver Magazine

Posted by techie on August 1, 2006

I work with a doctor that is just completely fascinated with cars. I swear the man is addicted to Car and Driver Magazine. Sure, I can see why someone can love all the new technologies that are being used in cars. However, he reads and looks at different cars all day long. I think he prefers cars to women. I guess that’s cool to have a passion.

Maybe I’m just jealous that I don’t drive as nice a car as him. I guess I’ll have to start reading Car and Driver Magazine too.

Adsense.com Not Owned by Google

Posted by techie on July 30, 2006

The owners of the domain adsense.com have been fielding hundreds of customer service e-mails and phone calls regarding Google’s AdSense program since the advertising service launched in March 2003.

It turns out that Google doesn’t own the domain adsense.com despite Google having the very popular Google Adsense.

I’m completely surprised that a company can’t use the power of that domain to generate more revenue for them as a company. This seems like a no brainer. I did find it funny that they applied to participate in Google’s Adsense program and were denied.

Funny/Fake Signatures on Your Credit Card Receipts

Posted by techie on July 30, 2006

I know a number of times I’ve wondered how many people look at the signatures on the credit card receipts. I know I didn’t look when I was working those jobs. The restaurant is even worse. What if I left without a signature at all. I’m not sure there’s much they could do, but forge my signature.

Well, someone has posted examples of signatures they did that people accepted. My favorite was the one where it is just a bunch of lines and not even close to a signature. The Walmart example is funny too.

Funny Comments on People’s Searches

Posted by techie on July 19, 2006

I found a recent post called Mortgage, Insurance, Ditech com, DUI Attorney, Mesothilioma Lawyers, Auto Insurance Quotes California on Smuggle Me blog that talks about a number of search terms and why people would shell out the dough for these different search terms.

My favorite part of this post is when they talk about California drivers and their need for auto insurance. I also fully agree with the DUI attorney comments.

Should This Guy Really Have a Gun?

Posted by techie on July 16, 2006

Another popular WordPress blog had a picture of a guy with a gun. I don’t think he should really have a gun. Sorry to be so judgmental. I think its the eyes that kill me.

Someone Bets Bill Gates $10,000 that Windows Vista Won’t Ship by January 2007

Posted by techie on July 14, 2006

I guess Bill Gates recently said that he felt Windows Vista had an 80% chance of shipping by January 2007. Wil Shipley at Call Me Fishmeal took Bill Gates up on his prediction and bet Bill $10,000 that it wouldn’t ship. It is a pretty funny read. I think he has some good points despite his completely bitter tone.

Is It Wrong to Digg on the Toilet? Top 10 Moral Questions With an Always-Connected World

Posted by techie on July 8, 2006

A recent blog post said just like mine: Is It Wrong to Digg on the Toilet? Top 10 Moral Questions With an Always-Connected World This of course couldn’t help but make me laugh. Here’s the tenth reason which is quite enteraining:

10. Is it wrong to Digg while on the toilet?

Sometimes I take my Internet tablet to the bathroom with me at home or pull it out of my pocket when I’m using a public restroom under a wifi cloud. Digg is a favorite site to read because it can be a quick read or it can be surfed for quite a while…if need be. I can also check and write email on this device and routinely do. Is it gross to interact with society during such personal times?

I’m just upset I didn’t do that earlier. More importantly, when I one day build my dream house I’ll be putting tablets in the bathroom so you can surf your favorite websites while taking care of business. Not to mention when you need to be with your son while he’s in the bath. You don’t want him to drown, but trust me you don’t have to watch him the whole time. You’ll be able to hear him playing while you’re enjoying Digg.

Google Founders Big 767 Private Plane

Posted by techie on July 8, 2006

How rich do you have to be do get an entire 767 for a private plane? I can only imagine what it is like to be inside. It’s like having an entire house that is portable. Incredible!! The real problem is probably finding a place to land and leave the airplane. The founders of Google are so rich. How can they live so lavishly?

Here’s one quote about some of its features:

Mr. Jennings says Messrs. Brin and Page “had some strange requests,” including hammocks hung from the ceiling of the plane. At one point he witnessed a dispute between them over whether Mr. Brin should have a “California king” size bed, he says. Mr. Jennings says Mr. Schmidt stepped in to resolve that by saying, “Sergey, you can have whatever bed you want in your room; Larry, you can have whatever kind of bed you want in your bedroom. Let’s move on.” Mr. Jennings says Mr. Schmidt at another point told him, “It’s a party airplane.”

Incredible!!

Pregnancy and Photo Birth Announcements

Posted by techie on July 6, 2006

My wife is pregnant and you know what that means. Mood swings and money spent on a new baby. There’s a real interesting problem with this whole pregnancy thing though. You want to announce the birth of your child, and you want to send out a cute card. Your wife is very talented and could create some beautiful announcements. Unfortunately, the mood swings and nausea often prevent her from doing what she’d like. How do you reconcile the 2?

Many men may think they are patient and will be fine letting their wife struggle through this adventure. This would be a huge mistake. Bite the bullet. Buy your birth announcements from BabysHere.com(http://www.babyshere.com) If you want to really impress, get the photo birth announcements. This will save you and your wife tons of heartache.

Amazon.com Does Groceries?

Posted by techie on June 20, 2006

I read a nice post about Amazon starting to sell groceries. I think this is a good idea because competition is always a good thing. However, it would seem odd to me to buy groceries from Amazon. It just doesn’t feel right yet. Here’s an excerpt of what they have:

The list includes a whole bunch of harder-to-find natural and organic, gluten-free and vegan products, and groceries are eligible for Super Saver and Amazon Prime Shipping.
